IN(VISIBLE) ENERGY (2024)
In(visible) Energy intervents the Mies Van der Rohe Pavilion with an omni-disciplinary experimental installation fabricated at the Bartlett School of Architecture ‘B-Made’ workshop at HearEast London. A collaborative work between artists, musicians, scientists, architects and engineers, experimenting on the 4 fundamental forces of the known universe (gravity, electromagnetism and strong and weak nuclear forces) draw the question of whether consciousness could be the 5th force that combines them.
The sound installation accompanying Invisible Energy, produced by Sandy Davis, Júlia Pallarès and Bernat Ginot, unfolds as a three-part composition that plays at twenty-minute intervals throughout the Mies Pavilion. Each piece harnesses sound as a medium to transmit different energies and evoke psychoacoustic effects.
The first piece is a generative work that offers a unique experience each time, employing binaural frequencies to create an aura of meditation and calm as visitors contemplate the floating pebbles rising from the pool.
The second piece transforms electromagnetic energy into audible sounds. Visitors are invited to participate in this musical piece by adding a new sound layer to the pre-recorded song through an electromagnetic microphone. By bringing the microphone closer to a mobile device, electric objects, or the magnets of the exhibition itself, these previously unknown sounds become audible.
Finally, the third piece uses low-frequency sound waves to generate physical sensations and create ripples in the interior pool, thus making the sound palpable and visible.
